Visit to Capital Development Authority (CDA)

Team SoP, led by Surveyor General of Pakistan, met with Mr Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman CDA, in CDA Secretariat Islamabad on 13 November 2025 to discuss SoP’s project proposal for developing Islamabad 3D Digital Twin. The initiative aims to transform Islamabad into a data-driven, efficiently managed and technologically advanced smart capital by integrating geospatial intelligence with digital governance.

During the meeting, SoP’s extensive collaboration with CDA in recent years came under discussion wherein SoP conducted topographic surveys of almost all CDA sectors and carried out demarcation of the Margalla Hills National Park. Team SoP showed a video demonstration of high-resolution UAV mapping of Sector D-12 as a pilot project along with an offer to undertake UAV-based image acquisition and comprehensive topographic mapping of Islamabad, integrated with the National Geodetic Control Network. It was highlighted that SoP can assist CDA with regular UAV surveys for encroachment monitoring, sector map updates using stereo imagery, development of high-resolution Digital Terrain and Surface Models, and providing technical input for revising Islamabad’s Urban Master Plan etc.

Chairman CDA acknowledged the importance of using geospatial data to implement sustainable urban development and efficient city governance. Both organizations agreed to study and revise their existing MoU to expand mutual collaboration in future.
